Pointe Hair Company was founded with a promise to do things differently to others in the industry and this meant a commitment to develop the formula in Australia, actually make The Ballet Balm in Australia, use premium ingredients and of course, to be cruelty free.
Let’s start with ingredients. Now, I knew I would be using The Ballet Balm in my daughter’s hair so of course it had to be safe but it had to be more than that. It had to be nourishing and make her hair soft. I also didn’t want it to change her hair colour or make it sticky, greasy or crunchy. It certainly couldn’t make her hair smell yucky. I quickly learnt this meant cosmetic grade premium ingredients needed to be formulated in perfect proportions. Our Ballet Balm is crafted with care in Australia by specialist formulators and chemists with over 20 years of experience in personal haircare formulation and they only use the best ingredients. After many iterations, the perfect formula was achieved. Tweaks were made so that The Ballet Balm wasn’t too tacky but not too oily – it had to be just right. It wasn’t a pomade or a gel or a wax – it was a balm. Oh and it had to smell like subtle vanilla and be pink! Thankfully our expert formulators nailed the brief. The Ballet Balm’s lux hero ingredients deserve a call out at this point given the role they play in this product. Please applaud the apricot kernel oil, coconut oil and shea butter! When you use The Ballet Balm, you will notice that your hands don’t feel sticky after applying it into your hair – actually they feel moisturised! This is no accident and you can thank these ingredients who are responsible for your soft smooth and deeply nourished hair.
